Practical details that prevent disputes
Choose a mover

Verify the business before booking

Confirm the mover is licensed, carries cargo-liability insurance, uses written standard terms, and identifies any subcontractor. Treat anonymous reviews and unusually low prices cautiously.

Quote

Get an on-site written estimate

Compare three to five companies on the same scope. Record the volume, floors, elevators, lift truck, walking distance, parking, dismantling, appliances, disposal, packing, staffing, VAT, and every possible surcharge.

Service type

Know what the crew will pack

A transport-only move leaves packing to you. A partial-packing move splits responsibility. A full-service move normally includes packing, transport, unpacking, and basic reassembly—define the exact boundary in writing.

Moving day

Photograph, inspect, and sign

Photograph both homes and valuable items before work starts. Record damage immediately, keep the team leader's details, inspect before final payment, and retain the contract, estimate, receipt, and handover record.

Temporary storage

Check storage and double-handling risks

If closing dates do not align, compare container and warehouse storage, daily charges, climate and security controls, insurance during storage, inventory procedures, and the cost of loading twice.

Administration

Update your address and utilities

File move-in registration promptly, obtain a fixed-date stamp for a lease when applicable, redirect mail, transfer or close electricity and gas accounts, record meters, notify building management, and update banks and insurers.
